Eighty primary and secondary pupils from across Southwark gathered at the Design Museum on Friday October 13 for a celebration of their work to improve the local environment.
Innovative projects that schools have worked on in the last year include growing organic vegetables on site and introducing teams of "litter detectives" and recycling reward schemes.
Pupils took part in musical and sculpture workshops on the day, and environmental oscars were presented to those who have showed the most commitment to improving their local environment.
Cllr Caroline Pidgeon, Southwark Council's executive member for education, said: 'Congratulations and a big thank you to all the schools that are playing such a big part in making Southwark cleaner and greener. Their efforts over the past year have been really inspiring and demonstrate how we can all take small actions to improve our local environment, and what a difference these actions can make."
The celebration was organised as part of the London Schools Environment Award organised by Capital Standards - to develop children's responsibility towards the environment.
